While reading in The Daily Mail that “Progressive pundit Briahna Joy Gray is fired after her shocking response to sister of Oct 7 Hamas hostage,” I remembered a song. It’s a song we used to perform when I was with The Beatnigs. One of our contributions to the fight against South African apartheid. It’s called “[Reclassification] Control” and - with its powerful chant of “We Must Maintain Control!” - played upon the anxiety that set the Boers on edge the most: other people, behaving not as expected, but like human beings.
Clearly, today, someone at TheHill.com was also set on edge by the sight of Briahna Joy Gray acting like a human being. She rolled her fucking eyes.
To be sure, out in the mediasphere, her onscreen partner, Robby Soave, gets to stay in front of us, even though he's been known to completely lose it on camera. Bill Maher gets to stay - he of the Jack Benny eye roll - even though he can also be bested in debate by the likes of Bill Burr (and even Bill Burr doesn't consider that much of an accomplishment). Rachel Maddow gets to stay - even though she can look in a camera and lie to you for five years straight about Trump and Russia and Hunter’s laptop.
But Briahna Joy Gray has to go - not because she’s got the story wrong or because she's dishonest - but because she gets the subject matter correct, and tells the truth about it, including occasionally - even accidentally - letting slip how she feels while performing on a debate show: She rolled her fucking eyes.
I saw the newspaper business destroy itself this same way, and will never buy the story it was the Internet that killed it. No, it was the same stupid French Revolution outlook that says, if you don't toe the line ideologically, you're gone. No matter how good you are. And everything’s suffered.
And it’s not just journalism. Let me tell you about some of my post-rebel music years: Not too long ago, I had an employer who liked the way I did my job, so well, they asked me to train someone else. After several days of working with the person, I said they were “useless” and - words being violence or something - I found myself in a whole world of trouble over my phrasing. It got to be so dumb, and oppressive, I quit - a decision I kind of regretted - until being reminded that, in the NewAge, these fools are so stupidly authoritarian that it’s common to let star performers go, over something like ignorance of unspoken company policy, or what someone else's “trigger” might be, or - in Briahna Joy Gray’s case - a roll of the eyes.
Just since the millennium, I’ve lost a job because two female lovers of astrology charged me with sexual harassment, after they merely intuited I didn't share their beliefs. No discussion - nothing. Upon investigation, the company didn't believe their sexual-harassment charges, but let me go because I was the new hire, and it was easier to replace me than the two experienced women.
There was the job at a Jewish school, where the woman who hired me started to sexually harass me. Calling me at home around midnight and what not. Again, I was let go because she was a veteran of the organization and I was a new hire.
Another job turned out to be a cult, and I was just happy to get away from there in one piece.
I had to quit another job after voicing skepticism to my fellow employees over the Mayan Calendar conspiracy theory of 2012. All hell broke loose over that one. They made flyers and everything.
And, if any of this sounds even a little far-fetched to you, remember we're talking about Briahna Joy Gray’s eye rolling getting her fired, because,…what? Maybe it indicates,…what? She can’t muster up the proper amount of sympathy for,…who? Hostages, caught in a war, after Zionists chose to engage in ethnic cleansing?
America, Inc.’s new unknown policy is obviously the acceptance and/or embrace of the Zionist project, currently engaged in a genocide, as defined by the International Court of Justice and every major human rights organization on the planet. As usual, there’s been no previous education on the issue, so no brochures handed out. You’re just supposed to know and agree - or else. Step out of line and you will be destroyed. And, of course, you only have this explained after you’ve run afoul of the policy you never knew existed, and as you continue to watch children die, using bombs you know we made and paid for.
The French Revolution sent anyone who told the truth to the guillotine. The Nazis killed anyone who told the truth, or sent them to the Eastern Front. South Africa murdered people or sent them to prison. In America, it’s jail or the unemployment line with you.
Briahna Joy Gray got fired for rolling her fucking eyes.
And then they wonder why no one wants to return to the office.
